The production of the 1680 Red submarines began in 1969, 16 years after the launch of the first submariner, reference 6204. The 1680 was the first Sumariner to have the date on the dial with a magnifying glass on the plexi glass. The caliber 1570 is replaced by the caliber 1575. It is only from 1973 that the red writing is suppressed and replaced by a white writing similar to the other lines. That's why the 1680 Red submarines are highly sought-after collectors, there is a low production for only 4 years. The first series of the 1680 Red had a telescope with thick numbers. But the black color of these first series is dimmed with time to become gray. This is called a Ghost telescope as a ghost. It is very difficult today to find the 1680 Red with this original bezel. That's why the model proposed here for sale is exceptional car, besides being the first series, it is sold complete set with its original punched papers and two Rolex boxes.
